Hezzy (Author | Speaker | Coach)

Hezzy is the author of You Can Be and Afro Pick Adventures Presents The Incredible Genius Imhotep. He is very passionate about motivating and inspiring people to live their best lives. Hezzy graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. He is also a graduate of Tyndale University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Education.  He is one of the founding members of Elevated Grounds, an organization that uses the performing arts to teach young people about mental health and Black Excellence.

My Mission

I am a creator of colourful cultural stories that use rhyme to elevate, motivate and educate the masses. My readers love to be taken on journeys that include vivid visualizations and positive messages. I love inspiring audiences to think outside of the box and to create new possibilities for themselves.

Hezzy has been commemorated with the York Region Black History Month award for producing interactive, visual and learner-friendly presentations which have had a great impact in the educational advancement and cultural promotion of African history.

Hezzy received the YMCA Peace Medallion Award for his work in bringing about peaceful solutions to violence, conflict, discrimination and injustice in the community.

Hezzy has been recognized by the House of Commons Canada for his hardwork and contributions to the Groundation Program as a team leader.

Education: Hezzy graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and graduated from Tyndale University and Seminary with a Bachelor of Education.

On this adventure Nick teleports to Ancient Egypt where he learns about the Step Pyramid and meets Imhotep “The Father of Medicine”.

As an educator, with over twenty five years of experience working with youth, he aims to help students unlock their full potential and create a positive change in their lives. He is the creator of colourful, cultural children’s stories that use rhyme to elevate, motivate and educate the masses.

His readers love to be taken on journeys that include vivid visualizations and positive messages. Hezzy loves inspiring audiences to think outside the box and to create new possibilities for themselves. Hezzy uses his knowledge of the curriculum to make his stories accessible in the classroom setting.

He has also worked as a Case Manager/Youth Facilitator with Breaking The Cycle a gang exit program which helps young people leave gangs. Hezzy worked as a facilitator for the YMCA in the Youth Entrepreneurship Program, where he taught young adults how to start their own businesses. In his spare time he enjoys reading, writing and farming. He is deeply rooted in his faith, family and culture. He lives in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario with his wife and three children.
